Wikonya

An open source knowledge platform for students in Konya: housing guides and course material that used to sit in group chats now live in one place. I wrote the frontend in TypeScript and React.

The platform is live and the code is public on GitHub, so anyone who reads it can send a correction.

What I did

Wikonya is a knowledge sharing platform for local students, built at Divizyon and open sourced on GitHub. I worked on the frontend in TypeScript and React, contributing to the sections that hold academic resources, housing guides, career opportunities, events, discussion forums and a personal dashboard.

Why it was built this way

The information already existed, it was just trapped in group chats and expired posts, which meant every new student started from zero. Making the project open source was part of the answer: a community platform that students cannot read the source of, or contribute a correction to, has the same trust problem as the group chat it replaces.

What I learned

Breadth is the hard part in a project like this. Six sections with different shapes push you toward one generic component that fits none of them well, and the useful discipline was deciding early which parts genuinely shared a layout and which only looked similar from a distance.
